Digital Sound
Most of our projection systems are equipped with dynamic digital stereo sound
systems (Dolby Digital and/or DTS). Digital technology allows for higher highs
and deeper lows with clearer, more audible voices and brilliant music Theatres
are outfitted with multiple speakers behind the screen, for left, center and
right channel sounds, as well as a subwoofer mounted on the floor for the deep
bass sounds and sound effects. In addition, there are numerous speakers ringing
the sidewalls and back wall of the auditorium, separated into left and right
channel surround sound. This allows for sound effects and music to "move over"
the audience from side to side, increasing the drama and quality of the sound presentation.
Dolby Digital
First introduced to moviegoers in 1992 with Batman Returns, and heard on
almost a thousand films around the world since then, Dolby Digital is the
latest sound innovation from Dolby Laboratories.
The Dolby Digital system provides six channels of crystal clear digital
surround sound. Left, center and right channels in front of you provide precise,
clear positioning of dialogue. Separate or "discrete" left and right
surround channels on the side and in the rear immerse you in the film with
atmospherics and ambient sounds. And a subwoofer/bass effects channel contributes
extra punch to action and special effects sequences. The digital soundtrack is
encoded directly on the film.

DTS
The DTS System brings premier quality discrete multi-channel digital sound
to the movies. The uncompromising DTS digital process sets the standard of
quality for cinema sound by delivering an exact copy of the studio master
recordings to our theaters. Unlike Dolby Digital, the DTS soundtrack is played
off a CD-ROM.
Operation of the DTS system is automatic and fail-safe. The system reads the
timecode on the film and plays the correct sound for each frame of film projected,
so the edits and non-digital trailers are automatically accommodated. The system even
checks a keyed serial number in the timecode and on the CD-ROM discs to assure that
the correct sound track is being played with the movie being shown.
